The Real Thing

I must comment on the presence of many Volkswagens in Ixtapa. These are not the plumped out, chromeless modern versions but they are the real thing, clattering Beetles, and they are generally in pretty good order considering they hark from such a distant generation. Italian restaurants and German cars ... interesting.

Today was the first day since we arrived that we've seen clouds. We thought they'd contribute to a particularly glorious sunset but no. The sun merely fudged into the cloud mass on the horizon and bid us all a deeply muted au revoir.

So I post a photo of a sandpiper instead. I liked the way the clouds reflected in the foreground.

... and here's an image of Jack reflecting in the background:

The photo below is of Jack and Linda waving goodbye to us as we left their apartment this evening after a pleasant supper together.

We caught a taxi at the gate to take us on the four minute drive home. Our driver, Mantella, agreed enthusiastically to pick us up tomorrow morning for the trip to the airport whence we will embark on a flight back to Mexico City, transferring from there to a flight to San Luis Potosi for a few days visit with my brother Dan and his wife who live there. Not sure I'll do much blogging while visiting but we return Monday to Ixtapa and I'll post some of the more interesting photos of that place.
